Urethral Dilation

Urethral Dilation

Dilation of urethral strictures or of the bladder neck

In the case of male patients, the urethral dilations are performed after the application of a local anesthetic and a lubricant with the aid of plastic catheters or metal dilating bougies, aiming at the dilation of urethral strictures or of the bladder neck, which are usually caused by inflammations or by radical prostatectomy.

In women, urethral dilations are performed after the application of a local anesthetic and a lubricant with the aid of metal dilating bougies, as a final solution, in order to treat relapsing urinary tract infections.
